As part of an article about Noosa Biosphere we were invited by CLMC (the Noosa Biosphere communication agency) to contribute images. The ECOS team liked it so much, they asked for our Velella Velellas to be their July cover stars.
“ECOS is regarded as one of Australia’s most authoritative magazines on sustainability, published since 1974 by Australia’s national scientific research agency, CSIRO. Throughout that time, ECOS has stayed true to its original brief of tackling sustainability from a scientific perspective.” (from about ECOS)
Famous Velellas
I took this photo walking on our beautiful Sunrise Beach and added it to my flickr stream. My flickr contact and Creative Commons activist Felix42 contra la censura had then invited me to be part of the Creative Commons Salon held in Brisbane in 2006 at Queensland University of Technology. Thus my Velellas became exhibited in the Salon. Can you spot them ?
These little fellas have become big media stars.

Velellas or 'by-the-wind sailors' washed up on our local beach. They are the non-stinging cousins of the blue bottle jellyfish.
